“Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” Filmed in Brooklyn, NY

As I posted yesterday, Hollywood is spending a lot of time in Brooklyn. Another feature film is occupying the gritty borough, this time in eclectic DUMBO. “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close”, starring Tom Hanks and under the Warner Brothers Studios umbrella, set up shop at the world famous Gleason’s Gym on Front Street. Gym patrons were shown the door for eight hours while the production took place. I’m sure they’re comfortable with it, because Gleason’s hosts photo shoots, films, and other interferences on a regular basis....

“Men in Black III” Filmed in Brooklyn, NY

Men in Black III, the sci-fi action and adventure movie starring Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, and Josh Brolin was filmed partially in Brooklyn, NY. I wasn’t able to see the actual filming, but I did get a few snapshots of the area getting ready. I really should keep my video camera with me. Website Redesign and Relaunch

I’m very happy to announce the redesign and relaunch of the Scott Hampton Shoots website. This new version uses the WordPress platform instead of hand-coded HTML, which means that I can provide you with an attractive, functional website with minimum fuss. Changes With the redesign, my portfolio will reside here, instead of Flickr, which will be phased out before the end of the year. One less account for me to manage makes life easier. And, speaking of portfolios, I will no longer provide Photoshop retouching. I’ll provide a thorough...

In my opinion, the release of consumer DV cameras, FireWire, iMovie, and the iMac changed the world. For about two thousand dollars’ initial investment in computer and camera (which would last for a few years), you could make a film and self publish it. I like that. That breakthrough—affordable filmmaking—was what I needed to do what I wanted to do: tell...

Just Learned a New Trick in Apple Aperture

Serendipity, oh, how I love thee! I uncovered a little feature in Apple’s Aperture today while editing. I was using the Retouch tool with the HUD displayed, and the photo was viewed full screen and zoomed. I have a Wacom Bamboo attached and use that instead of a mouse. Left-clicking and dragging in the photo will increase or decrease the radius of the brush, depending on the direction that you drag. Sweet! More finger dexterity, more keyboard jockeying, but less hand movement. That spells greater productivity, if you ask me. Take a look athe...
