In the not too distant past, making a movie was a forbidding venture to the layman. It was nigh impossible to get the time, talent, money, resources, or the distribution to make a film.

In my opinion, the release of consumer DV cameras, FireWire, iMovie, and the iMac changed the world. For about two thousand dollars’ initial investment in computer and camera (which would last for a few years), you could make a film and self publish it.

I like that.

That breakthrough—affordable filmmaking—was what I needed to do what I wanted to do: tell the world about Jesus. I don’t believe in giving out tracts or standing on a soap box to tell anyone about Jesus. Those methods are antiquated. It has limited, localized appeal that has a very fast falloff. I want to reach as many individuals as possible, as fast as possible, and affordable filmmaking is the ticket.

After making the film, I can distribute it via websites like YouTube to be seen all over the planet. Certainly, it has to be publicized so that it becomes known, but the ability to be seen in by the largest possible audience is the most important part.

This is what makes the great commission in Matthew 28 come to be real to me.
